Shalom!

“One of my greatest joys,” says Rabbi Elizheva Hurvich, “is when my students return to share with me how our learning has stayed with them on their Jewish journeys.” Jewish educator, artist, and ritual service leader Rabbi Elizheva has been training students for over 20 years. She has served as Education Director and Educator in many settings– synagogues, museums, JCCs and Hillel Houses.
Born in Northern California, Rabbi Elizheva has lived and studied in New York, Philadelphia, Israel, France, and the deep South of the U.S. She has been an active member in many Jewish communities– Conservative, Reconstructionist, Renewal– and considers herself an eclectic Judeophile. Rabbi Elizheva earned a Master’s Degree in Jewish Art and Material Culture from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. She was ordained as a Rabbi through ALEPH: the Alliance for Jewish Renewal.
Weaving her Renewal and Conservative roots with her love of Reconstructing Judaism and imagination, Rabbi Elizheva loves to teach the heart of the matter, bringing meaning and content and connection to students of all ages. Specializing in personalized tallitot (prayer shawls), huppot (wedding canopies), and group projects, her art has been included in the National Museum of American Jewish History and the galleries of HUC, as well as many venues in San Francisco.
Rabbi Elizheva also officiates weddings, leads funerals and memorial services, welcomes babies in ritual and is available for chaplaincy and spiritual guidance.
